Wilco Fan Video Project: (from WilcoWorld.net)
"We've got something new we're gonna try out on the upcoming North American tour. If you live in or around one of the show cities, we want you to help us create a video stage backdrop for the band. We're looking for images shot in the show's town... for instance, the September 13 show in Indianapolis, we're looking for video footage of settings and places that really say something about the area, its people and/or history, geography, whatever. Once you've captured the footage, upload it to the project's Vimeo Group. (You'll need to make sure the footage is downloadable and that you read the Terms.) Your footage just might end up being used in the show."

Beck Offers Skip Spence Record Club Tribute...

Record Club: Skip Spence "Little Hands" from Beck Hansen on Vimeo.

From Beck.com
We're 5 months into the Record Club project now, and it's time for our third installment.

This one took place last June when Wilco was in town for the release of their new eponymous album. They came by after a long day filming a TV appearance and still managed to put down 8 songs with us. Jamie Liddell was in the studio with me working on his new record. Leslie Feist happened to be in town editing her documentary and heard we were all getting together. Recording took place at Sunset Sound Studios in the room where the Stones did a lot of Exile On Main Street (and looking at the records on the walls it appeared that the Doobie Brothers recorded most of their output there too). Sitting in on drums, we had James Gadson, who's played on most of the Bill Withers records and on songs like 'Express Yourself' and 'I Will Survive.' Jeff Tweedy's son Spencer played played additional drums. Also, Brian Lebarton, from the last two Record Club sessions is back.

The record chosen this time was Skip Spence's 'Oar.' Running sequentially, the first song up is "Little Hands". Our friend Danny Kalb engineered.

For those of you who are wondering what the deal is with this Record Club thing, please read on below.

Wilco Schedules Cinci Before Bonnaroo...

Wilco has just announced a string of additional U.S. tour dates, including a show at The Aronoff Center in Cincinnati on Friday, June 12th. Ticket pre-sale begins April 22nd. This show should be a nice prelude to their Bonnaroo appearance and their new album release (late June).

The forthcoming and still-untitled next Wilco album is nearing completion. Jim Scott and the band spent the last few weeks mixing in Jim's studio in Valencia, California and here's a list of song titles spied on the reels -- note this is not necessarily complete and not in sequence.

Deeper Down
Conscript (aka I'll Fight)
One Wing
Solitaire
Wilco (the song)
Country Disappeared
Everlasting
Bull Black Nova
Sonny Feeling
You and I

Rumors and blogs regarding a guest appearance on that last track are, amazingly, quite true. Feist does indeed lend a great vocal to You and I. Other details will emerge in the coming weeks. The release is currently scheduled for late June on Nonesuch.

Side Note: Jeff Tweedy will throw out the first pitch at the Brewers game prior to there show in Milwaukee on April 14th.

Wilco: Ashes of American Flags DVD Trailer...

Nonesuch Records releases Wilco’s new concert DVD, Ashes of American Flags, on Saturday, April 18, at independent retailers nationwide as part of national Record Store Day. The DVD will also be available on that day here at nonesuch.com. A broader release through iTunes, Amazon.com, and chain retail outlets will follow on April 28.

Ashes of American Flags is produced and directed by Christoph Green and Fugazi’s Brendan Canty and shot in five quintessentially American venues: Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, OK; Tipitina’s in New Orleans, LA; The Mobile Civic Center in Mobile, AL; The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN; and the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. Mixing live concert footage with band interviews, it takes the viewer behind the scenes of Wilco’s 2008 US tour capturing both the expansive experience of rolling across America in a tour bus and the intimacy that happens night after night between the members of Wilco and the music they make, and between the band and their fans who come to experience it with them.

“It is really interesting to me how the experience of watching the live performances changes when the songs are given geographical, personal and historical contexts," said Christoph Green. " We wanted to make a tour film that would deepen and change the viewer’s relationship with the music.”

“Ashes was captured completely on the fly with a terrifying lack of planning, so everything you see in this film is real," adds Brendan Canty. "The musicianship and their combined will to elevate each song to new heights every night is real. Their appreciation of one another is real, and at the core of the film is their increasingly brilliant body of songs. I can only hope the film conveys the feeling of utter joy, beauty and triumph I feel after I see them play. “

Track Listing
1 Ashes of American Flags
2 Side with the Seeds
3 Handshake Drugs
4 The Late Greats
5 Kingpin
6 Wishful Thinking
7 Impossible Germany
8 Via Chicago
9 A Shot in the Arm
10 Monday
11 You Are My Face
12 Heavy Metal Drummer
13 War on War
