Led Zeppelin Proves Road Ready...

The BIG SHOW is over...but let's not pack up the road cases just yet! No need to rush this, right? On this very day, Led Zeppelin has proven that they are one of the greatest rock bands to ever walk the earth. Message Boards and Forums were buzzing all day with anticipation of LZ's tribute/reunion show for the late Ahmet Ertegun. London's O2 Arena was packed with 20,000 of the luckiest music fans including rock royalty Mick Jagger & Sir Paul McCartney. By most accounts, they tore it up and the crowd loved every minute of the 16 song show. Keep your eyes on YouTube for more recap...in the meantime, let's hope we haven't seen the last of Zeppelin.

Will Ferrell On Tour...

OK...I've done it again...I have strayed with another post that has nothing to do with music. But we can all recognize good stuff when we see it. Here is the lowdown...Will Ferrell has a new movie coming out in February 2008 called Semi-Pro. That is only half of the story. Billboard is reporting that he will also be heading out on a promotional Stand Up Comedy Tour (with some other great comedians) to stir up some publicity for the movie...and it is headed this way. Who needs more cowbell?

Feb. 4 Manhattan, KS (Bramlage Coliseum - Kansas State University)
Feb. 5 East Lansing, MI (Jack Breslin Center - Michigan State)
Feb. 6 Columbus, OH (Schottenstein Center - Ohio State)
Feb. 11 University Park, PA (Bryce Jordan Center - Penn State)
Feb. 12 Kingston, R.I. (the Ryan Center - University of Rhode Island)
Feb. 13 Chestnut Hill, MA (Conte Forum - Boston College)
Feb. 22 Chapel Hill, NC (Dean Edwards Smith Center - University of North Carolina)

Semi-Pro Movie Trailer

Official Synopsis:
Will Ferrell stars in Semi-Pro, an outrageous comedy set in 1976 against the backdrop of the maverick ABA – a fast-paced, wild and crazy basketball league that rivaled the NBA and made a name for itself with innovations like the three-point shot and slam dunk contest. Ferrell plays Jackie Moon, a one-hit wonder who used the profits from the success of his chart-topping song “Love Me Sexy” to achieve his dream of owning a basketball team. But Moon’s franchise, the Flint Michigan Tropics, is the worst team in the league and in danger of folding when the ABA announces its plans to merge with the NBA. If they want to survive, Jackie and the Tropics must now do the seemingly impossible – win.
(OK...So it doesn't sound like Oscar material...go have a laugh!)

Rap's Godzilla Does it For J Dilla...

Mos Def is a beast in the rap game who represents all that is right about the hip hop lifestyle. He will be in Ann Arbor on Martin Luther King Day paying tribute to the late Detroit area producer J Dilla. You are going to want to be at Hill Auditorium on January 21st to witness these skills. The show will feature the Mos Def Big Band, which breaks it down with live jazz style instrumentation & spoken word. This combination is a relatively rare occurrence making it quite a special evening. U of M University Musical Society & the Office of Multicultural Initiatives set up a "One Off" show right here in the Midwest.

Jeff Tweedy for Vice President...

Looks like Barack Obama must have some kinda understanding about what the people want. How about a little Jeff Tweedy in every CD Player? What a wonderful world this could be. Music is a force for change...Can you imagine an Obama / Tweedy Ticket. Two ingredients for goodness. Anyway...for those in Chicago, this Friday will be a fun night out....Change Rocks. Maybe Barack & Jeff can do a duet of I Am Trying to Break Your Heart & dedicate it to G. W. Bush.

When the Rumor Levee Breaks...

This just in...more info about a possible flight of Led Zeppelin. I will jump in with both feet, if only for the fact that I hope the rumor is true. Led Zeppelin has apparently signed on to play Bonnaroo 2008 next summer. One thing we do know, is they won't address reunion rumors until they complete their "One Off" show next Monday. Let's hope some YouTube video shows up after that gig.
